Rev. William H. Sheppard

Rev. William H. Sheppard, Louisville, Ky., (1865-1926): Rev. Sheppard was pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Louisville from 1912 until his death in 1926. A son of former slaves, Rev. Sheppard was an early advocate of civil rights before the 20th Century. He fought for education, housing and freedom, both in America and abroad, including the Congo, where he served as a missionary and human rights advocate who fought colonial oppression.
