Fair Housing Laws
LGBT Housing Discrimination

In 2012, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) created a policy to ensure that its HUD-assisted and HUD-insured housing programs do not discriminate against people based on sexual orientation, gender identity or marital status. Read more about the HUD policy here: HUD Final Rule

HUD is also expanding its race and gender discrimination studies (performed every 10 years) with a study on LGBT discrimination in public housing. The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights in conjunction with its HUD fair housing partnership is assisting with a survey for people who believe they have been discriminated against in housing based on sexual orientation, gender identity or marital status.

If you believe you have been the victim of such discrimination, please complete this short survey: Housing Discrimination Survey
