Isaac Murphy

Isaac Murphy (1861 - 1896) - The first jockey to ride three Kentucky Derby winners, Buchanon (1884), Riley (1890), and Kingman (1891). He began his riding career at 14, steering four of the first five American Derby winners and riding several Latonia Derby winners. Murphy, a Lexington native, said: "I believe my life will be recorded as a success, though the reputation I enjoy was earned in the stable and saddle."
